After growing up, he received the order of King Bijjal of the Kalachuri Empire. He initially worked as a clerk/accountant and later served as the Prime Minister of the entire kingdom. It is said that he lived and worked in Mangalvedha (Solapur district, Maharashtra).
Mahatma Basaveshwara is called the founder of the Lingayat religion, which is incorrect because he was a great reformer, preacher, and unifier of the Lingayat faith. He completely rejected caste, gender (male/female), superstitions, and rituals.
